Architecture JHK is a full-service California licensed architectural firm, providing complete comprehensive design, permitting, and construction services to seamlessly take your project from initial idea all the way through finished construction.

Our Design/Build services are a “one-stop shop” experience to simplify the process, so that homeowners can have the confidence and security of our expertise and experience designing and overseeing the construction of custom homes in the greater Los Angeles area for more than 20 years. 

Most companies offering “Design/Build services” are owned/run by a contractor, who has added some basic design to their services. This tends to mean that the design work is minimal and not a valued expertise. Also, it removes an important element of the construction process, where the architect as a separate entity provides expert oversight of the construction work, as the owner’s representative, holding the contractor accountable for quality and accuracy of construction. In other words, if you hire a typical “Design/Build” company, there’s no one to keep an eye on the contractor to assure proper delivery of construction. It’s a conflict of interest where the designers generally don’t have the full architectural experience to provide proper oversight during the construction process, and even if they did, they’d be watchdogging their own boss. 

As an “architecture led” Design/Build company, Architecture JHK is first and foremost an architectural firm, providing top quality design AND then oversight of the construction process, as the owner’s representative, not  as the contractor.  We help bring on the right contractor for each job, assuring their experience is in alignment with the specific needs of your project, and making sure their bid is in alignment with industry standards and other comparable contractors. We then provide the daily or weekly oversight during each stage of the construction process, looking out for and protecting the owner’s best interests.
