Open Auditions for GODSPELL
Godspell is based on the Gospel of Matthew and is a timeless tale of friendship and love, using a blend of parables, songs, dances and skits, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. (Yes, the same composer for WICKED!)
Performance dates will be May 7-10, 2026.
Director, Melanie Nagel, is seeking a cast of five males and five females, aged 16 and older, and will hold auditions March 5th from 6:30-8:30 pm, and March 7th from 9:00-11:00 am, at Giffey Hall in Ridgeville Corners (you only need to attend one of those dates).
What to Prepare For Your Audition
• Please come prepared with one song to sing. It could be a musical theatre selection from Godspell or another musical, a hymn, or any other song that features your vocal range.
• Please prepare two minutes or less of your song selection. Please be
ready to perform the section that you want the audition panel to hear.
You likely won’t have time to sing the entire song.
• We will not have an accompanist for auditions. Here are a few options:
Bring an instrument to play yourself, or provide your own accompanist (a piano will be available).
Bring a recorded accompaniment. There are lots to be found on
YouTube if you search “karaoke” along with your song title. You are
responsible for bringing that accompaniment and method of playing that music (i.e. Bluetooth speakers, etc).
• You cannot sing a Capella!!
• Come prepared with a short comedic monologue of your choice. The
more animation you can put into it, the better. If you cannot find one
on the internet, please contact Melanie.
• Please bring a list of scheduling conflicts you may have from March
16th through May 10th.
There will be a cast get-acquainted and read-through on Monday, March 9th. Rehearsals will start the week of March 16th, every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
If you have any questions about auditions or rehearsals, please contact
Melanie at mel.nagel.161@gmail.com. Hope to see you at auditions!!
