ACT Will Add An Additional Show in 2026, as a Fundraising Event ACT will be doing the musical Godspell in May at Giffy Hall. This show is being done as a fundraising event. It is not part of the season membership or program advertising. Godspell has been chosen for a couple of reasons:
1) It was the very first musical that ACT ever did, back in 1982
2) This was the first musical that Michael Short directed for ACT, and will be done as a tribute to his years of dedication as an excellent director and leader of our theater.
Giffey Hall, home to Archbold Community Theatre, is in dire need of some repairs/additions to the facility. Years ago a handicap ramp was added to the front of the facility, but as many of you know, there are no restrooms on the main theatre floor. So, we would like to add a couple of handicap accessible restrooms upstairs. Also, there has never been a restroom in the back of the theatre, so cast members always have to go outside and downstairs to use the restrooms during productions. We would like to add a restroom into the back stage area. And the existing restrooms downstairs could use an update to them also. But, the biggest concern to ACT are the pillars in the basement. For those of you who go down there, I am sure that you have noticed that the brick pillars are crumbling away. We need to get a contractor in to take a look at them, and get them rebuilt. The board hasn’t worked out all of the details yet, but we are getting in touch with contractors, and are looking at what kind of grant money we can get to help offset the cost of doing this work. So, you will probably see ACT doing some fundraising events. We will also be looking for people/businesses to help offset the cost of royalties for Godspell. This is a small-cast, minimal set, minimal costuming show, which will be the start of raising money for the much needed repairs to the building. We will keep you posted as we start working through the process to do some much needed repairs to the facility.
