A tāhkahcikan or harpoon is a modified antler or bone that is shaped to spear fish in the water either from wading or a canoe. The harpoon is shaped with barbs on it so that the fish cannot slide off. These tools would have been small and light and would have been carried around with people. This method of fishing is mainly done alongside a weir (an enclosure along the shore to catch fish) in shallow water. This tool would have been used by the men, as hunting was a male activity.
