Food Forest Cacao Ancestral Larense 2021
The first phase of the creation of a food forest takes place in an existing forest with native species. The ecosystem is made up of plant species such as: Mahogany, Ceiba, Naranjillo, Matarratón, Jabillo, Cartán, among others. We are cleaning the bushes and vines that allow us to incorporate another group of plant species such as Cacao, Passion Fruit, Para Para, Avocado, Totumo, Coco de Mono, Basil. This in order to occupy the different strata of the forest, associate indigenous species and reach the Ecological Climax.
Performed activities
Design. In the design work we have the support of the UCLA School of Agronomy, professors and an intern. A topographic survey was carried out with the intention of preserving the contour lines of the terrain to establish the cultivation.
Cleaning and adaptation of the land. For the creation of this forest we have decided not to plow the land or use agrochemicals. The plot chosen for planting already has pioneer trees of native species. Slashing and cleaning work has been carried out on minor vegetation.
Traced. Following the contours and contour lines we have made the layout 3 x 3 meters.
The holes of 25 x 25 x 40 cm have been made in such a way that the vertical development of the root is allowed in the first stage of the plant.
Transplant. The plants from our nursery have been transplanted into the ground in each hole and a mixture of solid vermicompost, biochar and composted animal manure has been added.
Trees planted. 750/2000 (goal)
