Water Filtration or Purification?

In one of the videos on AquaTru's site, we see Peter Spiegel (more about him in a second) talking about outdated pitchers and other devices that only filter out a few basic chemicals, and for that reason make your water taste better. Comparatively, he tells us that AquaTru can filter out 128 harmful chemicals and gasses, while dropping the word "purifier" on at least one celebration.

The terms "filter" and "purify" may seem similar, but they're not interchangeable, so it's important you understand the difference. As you may guess, purification is the physical act of filtering something; i.e. to prevent something from making it into the supply of water. In the case of AquaTru, this task is managed in a 4-stage procedure utilizing its 3 different filters.

On the other hand, filtration isn't necessarily a procedure like filtering; it's an end result intended to eliminate undesirable compounds. However filtration doesn't necessarily imply "pure." For instance, if your goal was to eliminate simply a handful of unhealthy chemicals from water, you could then declare that it was purified.
