The purpose of a letter of recommendation in college application is to give admissions officers as complete of a picture of you as possible.  This letter reflects who you are in the classroom and within the school community.  It also allows the teacher to attest for the  good personal qualities that you show in your personal statement.  Very importantly, teachers or counselors can say great things about you that you can’t say yourself.
