Partner: Best Practices

Please find below a few best practices that may help you as you navigate partnerships with Atlanta Public Schools.

Grants

If pursuing a grant that will be implemented in one or more of our schools, we suggest:

    • Contacting the Office of Partnerships & Development upon commencement of the grant proposal (Best Contact- Development Coordinator)
    • Contacting the leadership team of the schools you would like to serve and get their support and approval before proceeding with the grant application.
    • Working closely with the Partnerships Team & School Leadership to determine if the proposal addresses current needs and strategic goals.
    • Requesting a letter of support to present to funders in order to verify collaboration with the Partnerships Team & School Leadership (See template here.)

Starting a Partnership

    • Complete the Partnership Interest Form with as much detail and as many specifics as possible.
    • Review our "Ways to Engage with Schools" section to determine if you may be able to address some of the stated needs.
    • Be prepared to share about the history and effectiveness of your program.
    • Ready to move from interest to implementation? As you prepare to meet with a school leader to discuss the implementation of your programming, feel free to complete this implementation guide to help guide the conversation.
