Formalizing Partnership
Thank you for partnering with Atlanta Public Schools!
Should I create a formal agreement?
Organizations are encouraged to create formal partnership agreements to outline expectations when working closely with schools to best meet the needs of all involved stakeholders. Partnership agreements help to manage expectations, provide additional accountability and in some cases, provide necessary documentation to secure grant funding for external entities. Partnership agreements are highly encouraged as a way to be proactive in communicating implementation plans and as a way to assess if an organization has met its intended goals and objectives.
Please see below for details on how to create an MOU/Partnership Agreement.
Partners wishing to formalize their partnership with an APS school(s) should complete the following steps:
Complete the Partnership Interest form: https://forms.gle/4wws4Zj4FEgePuwC8. The Office of Partnerships and Development will be in touch to schedule a meeting if necessary.
Meet with school(s) to determine their interest in a partnership.
After a school has determined that they want a partnership, the organization will:
Complete the APS Memorandum of Understanding template. Organizations will complete the APS MOU template. Organizations have the option of attaching their own agreement within the completed APS MOU as Exhibit A.
Send the MOU for review. Send the completed MOU to the school leader (or school leader’s designee) for review. The school leader or designee will review Exhibit A of the MOU. Exhibit A is where organizations list the expectations of the organization and school. The organization will revise Exhibit A based on the school’s feedback. School leaders don’t sign MOUs or agreements.
Sign and submit the MOU. Organizations will sign the completed APS MOU, and email the APS MOU to the district’s Partnerships Manager, Katrina Ford at katrina.ford@atlanta.k12.ga.us.
Wait until the MOU is approved before beginning services. The Office of Partnerships and Development will submit the MOU to legal for review. Legal will complete the review in a minimum of 10 business days from the day they receive the MOU. Legal may have edits or questions, so make sure the district’s Partnerships Manger has the correct contact information.
We're currently accepting MOUs for the 2024-2025 school year.
