TAMU Geospatial Professional Society
Our vision is to develop creative and technically competent geographic-minded professionals to thrive within industry.
Student Chapter Goals
We are a collection of undergraduate and graduate students that hold monthly meetings to help connect students with professional opportunities (jobs, internships, etc.) . We aim to be professional organization that does not simply "sit and listen" but "walk and talk". This is accomplished through our affiliation with professional chapters and with our campus events: "TAMU Drone Day" and our Continuing Education Course. This can also be clearly seen in how we break up our meetings:
- 6:30 PM- Welcoming and Introduction of Speaker
- 6:35 PM- Speaker Presentation
- 6:55 PM- Question and Answer with Speaker
- 7:15 PM- Professional Development Practice
- 7:20 PM- Relevant News
- 7:25 PM- Closing
Our meetings for fall 2018 will be from 6:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. in O&M room 103 on the second Thursday of September, October and November.
- Thursday, September 13th
- Thursday, October 11th
- Thursday, November 8th
We are proud to be a recognized student chapter of the Association of Petroleum Surveying and Geomatics and the International Association of Hydrological Sciences. With these affiliations, we are able to attend professional networking events and technical sessions, typically free of charge.
Our organization is made up of Oil and Gas professionals and students -- experts in geomatics, surveying, geospatial data management, mapping sciences, and more -- with an interest in geodetics and cartography relating to the worldwide development of petroleum.
