$500 Educational Materials Grant and Yearly $250 Educational Material Grant
Guidelines and Application (2025-2026 School Year)
The APSEA Local of the NSTU offers two grants to support members in enhancing their teaching practice.
Eligibility
Applicants must be members of the APSEA Local of the NSTU.
Funding
A. $500 Educational Materials Grant
Maximum Grant Per Member: $500
Funding Availability: Up to $6,000 will be available during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Application Deadline: Applications are considered by the PD Committee as they are submitted throughout the year.
Frequency: Members may not apply for this grant for two consecutive school years.
B. Yearly $250 Educational Material Grant
Maximum Grant Per Member: $250
Funding Availability: Up to $20,000 will be available during 2025-2026 the academic year.
Application Deadline: *Being revised*
Frequency: Members are eligible to apply for this grant every year, if funds are available.
Members may only apply once per year for one of the grants, not both.
Important Dates (For Both Grants)
Application Deadline: April 30th of each year.
Purchase Deadline: June 1st of each year.
Receipt Submission Deadline: Last day of the school year
Eligible Items (For Both Grants)
Toys, books, games, etc.
Ineligible Items (For Both Grants)
Items for individual students (e.g., glasses, hearing aids, adaptive devices).
Families should be referred to the APSEA Auxiliary when appropriate.
Electronic devices such as iPads, tablets, and computers.
Formal assessment materials.
How to Apply
Complete the application form via the Google Form below.
Please do not purchase materials/supplies until your grant application is approved.
You will receive an expense form to return to the Local Treasurer at apsealocaltreasurer@gmail.com with your receipts/proof of purchase.
Note: All applications and receipts must be submitted in Canadian Dollars. For receipts in other currencies, please provide proof of the conversion rate (e.g., credit card statement, PayPal receipt, https://www.bankofcanada.ca)
Please provide time for the APSEA Local Executive and PD Committee to review your application before purchasing requested items.
Reimbursement
To receive reimbursement, please follow these steps:
If you are approved for a grant, you will receive a digital expense form, fill out the form and sign it digitally.
All boxes on the expense form will need to be completed in order to submit the form. If there is nothing to add to a box, please add a dash to that line.

Here's how to handle the expense amount:
If the total spent is more than $250 for the Yearly $250 Educational Materials Grant or $500 for the Materials Grant:
List all the items you purchased under description of expense and claim $250 (Yearly $250 Educational Materials Grant) or $500 (Materials Grant) as your total expense.
If your total spent is less than the amount of the grant ($250 or $500), enter the total amount you spent as your total expense claim.
Receipts must be submitted to the APSEA Local Treasurer by the last day of the school year to ensure reimbursement.
