Postdoc positions available in The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen)

Postdoc Position available

Four postdoc positions are available in The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Candidates with experiences of magnetic thin film growth, characterization, and/or magnetic device fabrication and/or micromagentic simulations etc are welcome to apply. Our group works on both theory and experiment of spintronic devices, in particular magnetic skyrmionic devices and magnonic devices. Exceptional candidates will be considered for Research Assistant Professor positions.


Job duties

1) Procurement and development of magnetic experiment facilities such as PPMS, VMS, Sputtering etc,

2) Co-supervision of master and Ph.D. students,

3) Preparation of research proposal and application of regional and national funding etc.


Requirements

1) Background in physics, material science and engineering, electrical engineering;

2) Experiences with magnetic sputtering, MBE or clean-room device processing are preferred;

3) Good command of spoken and written English

4) Strong motivation, self-driven and self-dependent working attitude and team spirits.


Salary & Benefits

1) Salary will be competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointments will be made under the establishment of CUHK-SZ and statutory benefits will be provided according to the prevailing labor laws applicable in the PRC. The appointee will be based at the University campus in Shenzhen, PRC.

2) Guaranteed postdoc fellowship bonus from Shenzhen Municipal government and Longgang District government with an amount of 300,000 RMB per year(tax free) for two years.

3) Qualified candidates will be encouraged to apply the followed funding support.(Please be subject to the government official latest version)

• China Postdoctoral Science Fund (First Prize Awardee with 80,000RMB, Second Prize Awardee with 50,000RMB)

• National Science Foundation of China.

• Guangdong Postdoctoral Fellowship: The awardee will get extra bonus from Guangdong Province of

300,000 RMB per year for two years (before tax).

• Shenzhen and Longgang Talent Program (Type C): The Awardee with bonus of 2.4 million for 5 years (tax free)

• Post-doctors, their spouses, and children are allowed to register residence in Shenzhen.

Dr. Zhou Yan obtained his bachelor degree in University of Science and Technology of China in 2003 and PhD degree from Royal Institute of Technology (Prof. Johan Akerman group at KTH, Sweden) in 2009. He mainly works on next-generation spintronics devices including spintronic oscillator, Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory, and magnetic skyrmions for information processing and storage application. Dr. Zhou has published more than 150 papers including 1 Proceedings of the IEEE, 1 Nature Physics, 1 Nature Electronics, 7 Nature Communications, 1 NPG Asia Materials, and 2 Nano Letters. His GoogleScholar citation is ~4300. Dr. Zhou received the awards of “China outstanding PhD student abroad”, and “Top 100 citation Badge by Scientific Reports”. His work has been reported by Phys.org, Science daily, IEEE Spectrum, Storage Newsletter etc. Prof. Zhou is a senior member of IEEE and editorial board member of Scientific Reports, Editorial review board member of IEEE Magnetics Letters. He is reviewer of Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Physics, Nature Materials, Nature Communications, Science Advances, Nano Letters, Physical Review X, Physical Review Letters, Physical Review B, Applied Physics Letters and IEEE Transactions on Electronic Devices etc. He was selected for the Youth Thousand Talents Program in 2015. In addition to conducting cutting-edge research, he is devoted to high-quality teaching. He was awarded the first “Presidential Exemplary Teaching Award” in CUHKSZ in 2018.
