Apple Theater was founded in October 2000.

John Hoon, who studied authentic Russian realistic acting, founded the theater company with his theater colleagues and college students to create more realistic stage acting.

The actors are firmly armed with the Stanislavsky Acting Method, a textbook on realistic acting, and meet the audience with vivid acting that cannot be seen in movies or TV, and with dramatic repertoire selection and tense directing, they aim to maximize the fun of theater.

Apple Theater creates hyper-realism.

In addition, they operate an acting education program called Apple Farm to establish the method. (Currently under contract to the Anton Chekhov Acting Academy)

Despite its short history, they are actively working as much as European theater companies with a long history with diverse repertoires, and are expanding their territory.

Also, the [Anton Chekhov Theater] operated by this organization is a theater that mainly performs world-class classic works centered around the master of realism, Anton Chekhov.

Although it is a small theater, it provides convenience for viewers by introducing CGV-style seats in movie theaters, and unusually, it forms an audience-oriented theater culture where you can drink simple drinks during the performance, and it is a small but comfortable and cozy space where you can enjoy drip coffee and snacks made by a barista in the lobby.

In this space, the Apple Theater & Anton Chekhov Society performs [Chekhov's 8 Great Acts] as a permanent repertoire, and in the summer, the [Summer Chekhov Festival] is held in which anyone can participate, and you can also see works by world-class writers such as Shakespeare, Molière, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, and Tennessee Williams on an irregular basis. Also, it has been a cultural space that simultaneously holds performances and academics, such as Chekhov workshops, seminars, academic conferences, and special lectures every quarter, and has been running since 2014.

Chekhov's Cherry Orchard, Three Sisters, Uncle Vanya, and The Seagull (Chaika), which can be called the world's best masterpieces of realism, hold an important place in the history of literature, and the translation is also done by Jeon Hoon, a director who studied abroad in Russia, so you can enjoy the masterpieces without any burden by watching the comfortable performances in colloquial language.

It also plays a big role in presenting the identity of Korean realism.

Another advantage is the actor pool, and the natural age range from 20s to 80s adds to the realism, so you can enjoy the pleasure of appreciating the lively youth and great acting that is steeped in experience.

러시아의 정통 사실주의 연기법을 배우고 온 전훈이 보다 실감나는 무대 연기를 위해 그의 연극 동료 및 대학 제자들과 함께 창단하였습니다. 

연기자들은 사실주의 연기법의 교과서인 스따니슬랍스끼 연기 메소드로 단단히 무장되어 있으며 영화나 TV에서 볼 수 없는 생생한 연기로 관객들과 만나며 드라마틱한 레파토리 선정과 긴장감 넘치는 연출로 연극의 재미를 한껏 주고자 합니다.

애플씨어터는 하이퍼 리얼리즘(극사실주의)을 만들어갑니다. 

또한 메소드 정립을 위해 애플팜이라는 연기교육 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다. (현재 안똔체홉학회 연기아카데미 위탁 교육중) 

짧은 역사이지만 다양한 레파토리로 긴 역사의 유럽의 극단 못지않은 왕성한 활동을 하고 있으며, 그 영역을 확장시켜 나가고 있습니다.

또한 본 단체가 운영하는 [안똔체홉극장]은 리얼리즘의 거장 안똔 체홉을 중심으로 세계적인 고전의 작품을 주로 상연하는 극장으로 자리하고 있습니다. 

소극장이지만 영화관 CGV형 의자를 도입하여 관람의 편의를 제공하고 있으며 이례적으로 공연중 간단한 음료등을 마실 수도 있는 관객위주의 관극 문화를 형성하고 있으며, 로비에서 바리스타가 직접 내린 드립커피와 다과등을 즐길 수 있는 작지만 편안하고 아늑한 공간입니다. 

본 애플씨어터 & 안똔체홉학회에서는 이러한 공간에서 [체홉의 8대장막]을 상설레퍼토리로 공연하고 여름에는 누구나 참여할 수 있는 [여름체홉축전]이 이루어지고 있으며, 비정기적으로 셰익스피어, 몰리에르, 아서 밀러, 피터 쉐퍼, 테네시 윌리암스등 세계적인 작가의 작품을 만날 수 있습니다. 또한 분기별로 체홉워크샵, 세미나, 학술회의, 특강등이 개최되는 공연과 학술을 동시에 진행하는 문화공간으로 2014년부터 지속되어왔습니다. 

세계최고의 리얼리즘 마스터피스라고 할 수 있는 체홉의 벚꽃동산, 세자매, 바냐삼촌, 갈매기(챠이카)는 문학사에 있어서도 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있으며, 러시아 유학파 연출가 전훈이 번역을 동시에 진행하여 구어체의 편안한 공연감상하여 명작을 부담없이 즐기실 수 있습니다. 

또한 한국적 리얼리즘의 정체성을 제시하는데 큰 역할을 담당하고 있습니다. 

또하나의 장점은 배우풀인데요, 20대에서 80대까지 자연스러운 연령대의 구성으로 사실감을 더하여, 생기발랄한 젊음과 연륜에 스며든 명연기를 감상할 수 있는 즐거움을 누릴 수 있습니다. 

인문학이 충만한 사회를 지향하는 본 단체의 작업에 많은 관심바랍니다.
