NJROTC Teams

Color Guard

The NJROTC Color Guard Team is a ceremonial unit responsible for presenting and safeguarding the United States and state flags at military, civic, school, and community events. Cadets learn proper flag etiquette, precision drill movements, military bearing, and teamwork while representing the unit with professionalism and pride. Through regular training and public performances, team members develop leadership, confidence, discipline, and a strong respect for the traditions and values of our nation.

Honor Guard

The NJROTC Honor Guard Team is a ceremonial unit dedicated to rendering military honors and representing the unit at official events, memorial ceremonies, parades, and special functions. Cadets are trained in precision drill, military customs and courtesies, and ceremonial procedures while maintaining the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and military bearing. Through participation in Honor Guard activities, team members develop leadership, confidence, attention to detail, and a deep respect for those who have served our nation.

Athletics/PT

The NJROTC Athletics/PT (Physical Training) Team is a competitive unit focused on building physical fitness, endurance, strength, and overall health. Cadets participate in structured workouts, conditioning drills, and team-based fitness challenges designed to improve performance and resilience. Through consistent training and competition, team members develop discipline, leadership, teamwork, and mental toughness while promoting a strong standard of physical readiness within the unit.

Academics

The NJROTC Academic Team is an elite unit of cadets dedicated to academic excellence and mastery of Naval Science curriculum, general education subjects, and current events. Cadets prepare for competitions against other schools through intensive study, practice exams, and teamwork-based knowledge challenges. The team develops critical thinking, discipline, leadership, and communication skills while promoting a strong culture of scholarship and intellectual achievement within the NJROTC program.

Orienteering

The NJROTC Orienteering Team is a competitive unit that focuses on land navigation—the art of using a map and compass to locate specific points in unfamiliar terrain. Cadets develop navigation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills while competing in courses that test their ability to accurately and efficiently find checkpoints. Through training and competition, team members build confidence, teamwork, physical endurance, and leadership skills while learning valuable outdoor survival and navigation techniques.

Community Service

The NJROTC Community Service Team is dedicated to supporting the school, local community, and civic organizations through volunteer work and service projects. Cadets participate in events such as ceremonies, clean-up efforts, charity drives, and public assistance activities while representing the unit with professionalism and pride. Through these efforts, team members develop leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and a strong sense of civic duty and commitment to service above self.

Raiders

The NJROTC Raiders Team is a competitive unit that focuses on physical fitness, endurance, teamwork, and leadership. Cadets train in challenging events such as distance running, obstacle courses, rescue carries, strength challenges, and team-building exercises. Through rigorous training and competition, Raiders develop discipline, mental toughness, confidence, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. The team promotes a healthy lifestyle while preparing cadets to overcome physical and mental challenges both on and off the competition field.

Armed Exhibition

The NJROTC  Armed Exhibition Team is a precision drill unit that combines military bearing, discipline, and advanced rifle handling skills. Cadets perform complex routines featuring spins, tosses, catches, and synchronized movements with demilitarized drill rifles. Through dedicated practice, team members develop confidence, coordination, attention to detail, and teamwork while showcasing the highest standards of professionalism and precision during competitions, ceremonies, and public performances.

Unarmed Exhibition

The NJROTC Unarmed Exhibition Team is a competitive drill unit that performs highly synchronized routines without the use of rifles. Cadets execute intricate marching movements, facing movements, formations, and creative drill sequences that demonstrate precision, discipline, and teamwork. Through consistent practice and attention to detail, team members develop confidence, leadership, military bearing, and the ability to perform under pressure while representing the unit at competitions, ceremonies, and community events.

Sea Perch

The NJROTC Sea Perch Team is a STEM-focused unit that designs, builds, and operates underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Cadets learn engineering principles, problem-solving, and teamwork while constructing functional submersible vehicles using technical kits and tools. Through testing, troubleshooting, and competition, team members develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, along with leadership, communication, and innovation. The Sea Perch program promotes hands-on learning and prepares cadets for future careers in engineering and naval technology fields.

Drones

The NJROTC Drone Team is a competitive and educational unit that focuses on the operation, programming, and mission planning of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Cadets develop skills in aviation, technology, teamwork, and problem-solving while learning safe and responsible drone operations. Through training, simulations, and competitions, team members gain hands-on experience with modern technology while building leadership, communication, and critical-thinking skills that prepare them for future opportunities in STEM and aviation-related fields.

Air Rifle

The NJRAir Rifle Team is a competitive marksmanship unit that focuses on precision shooting, concentration, and discipline. Cadets train in the safe handling and operation of air rifles while developing accuracy, patience, and mental focus. Through regular practice and competition, team members learn the importance of responsibility, self-control, and attention to detail as they represent the unit in local, regional, and national marksmanship events.
