If you need to embed an address search autocomplete library on your website, Algolia has made the process incredibly simple with its new address autocomplete API. This technology uses OpenStreetMap to populate address fields in HTML forms. While this solution is similar to Google's Address Autocomplete API, there are some notable differences.
One key difference is the accuracy of predictions. Algolia's Address API is currently free. However, as of November 29, it will be available for a fee. The Address API provides geolocation radius search, address autocomplete, submit for City fields, and Half Map geolocation. It also provides results in a human-readable format and allows developers to filter results by radius.
Another difference is that Algolia's address autocomplete does not populate apartment numbers. The autocomplete gets confused when a user types an apartment number. In addition, the autocomplete will not populate results with post office box information. Unlike Google's address autofill API, Algolia's address database is maintained by volunteers, which means that it may contain mistakes or be inaccurate.
Address autocomplete data quality is an important factor when shipping mail, delivering food, and performing maintenance work. There are over 800 different addresses containing an address. To improve the accuracy of address suggestions, an autocomplete API should include secondary address data.
