Classes subject to change each school year, level placement is at the discretion of the teachers and parents.
September 10th - April 22nd
Preschool students will stay in the preschool room for the last two class sessions of the day. They are welcome to come free play in the preschool room during life skills if they need an alternate space. We will follow Playing Preschool, a hands-on, play-based homeschool preschool curriculum by Susie Allison. (FAQs here) Each class session will feature a different theme from the curriculum with books and activities. We will also have a Fruit of the Spirit each month with social-emotional lessons grounded in scripture. There will be a provided, themed mid-morning snack. Please be sure to inform the teachers of any special food allergies or sensitivities.
Our preschool room is currently combined with the nursery. Children are welcome from infants to about age 5, and may participate as they are ready, usually around ages 2.5-3. Families will be charged according to the child's expected participation in the curriculum activities.
Life School
September 10th - April 22nd
Life Skills is a full group class offered to the entire Apex student body. All students and parents are invited to participate in this class. Teachers will vary and we will offer opportunities for our older students to lead experiments or instruct portions of the class with adult supervision. This class is meant to be a hands-on experience that will allow students the practical application of knowing how to engage in everyday life and survival skills on their own.
Physical Science
September 10th - April 22nd
Explore the wonders of God’s design in our physical world! We’ll cover topics like energy, electricity, magnets, light, and sound through fun, hands-on activities and experiments. Each week, we’ll also learn meaningful memory verses to connect science with God's word.
Creative Writing
Half the year- dates TBD
Creative Writing (Fall): This short-term creative writing class is designed to spark imagination and build confidence in skills. Through fun, interactive activities and guided prompts, students will explore storytelling, develop unique characters, and practice expressing their ideas in written form. The class encourages creativity over perfection, helping students discover that writing can be both enjoyable and meaningful.
Students will participate in group brainstorming, imaginative exercises, and short writing projects, with opportunities to share their work in a supportive environment.
Poetry(Spring): Let's take a journey highlighting some of the different kinds of poetry and create a collaborative experience in writing poetry together to better understand syncopation, rhyme, syllables and context. We will highlight poets like Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, Beatrix Potter, styled from the Bible, Slam Poetry and Poetry in music and theatre. Our hope is that your students walk away with a fresh perspective and understanding of an otherwise daunting topic.
