APA Style also requires the use of a page header. The page header should include a running head and page number.
The running head is a shortened version of your paper's title and cannot exceed 50 characters including spacing and punctuation.
To create a page header/running head in Word:
Go to the insert tab, select ‘insert page numbers’, ‘top of page’, and ‘plain number 3 (flushed right)’.
This should open the header box. Type in CAPS the "SHORTENED TITLE OF YOUR PAPER" in the header and flush the running head to the left.
You can then use the Tab key or space bar to move the page number back to the right.
Please note. Student papers do not typically include a Running Head unless specifically requested by your subject coordinator.
