Educational leadership is a process that identifies the skills of teachers, students, and parents and unites them to achieve academic and social growth. In order to produce results as a leader, I believe in empowering teachers, creating the right leadership team, and implementing the educational programs and curriculum that will lead toward student achievement. Student achievement is what drove my instruction as a teacher and continues to drive my decisions as an instructional leader.
I also believe in being transparent as an educational leader. As a leader, I believe in being available to students, teachers, and community members. Being an effective communicator and more importantly, an effective listener is important when leading a team.
I am a firm believer that schools should be safe, fun, and positive places for students and their families. I used to tell my students that no matter what they are going through outside of the school doors, our classroom provides a getaway and an opportunity to have some fun, laugh and learn something new.
As a teacher, I have seen the benefits of having someone passionate about their job in administration. Teachers need to know that they have an instructional leader that can help students academically and emotionally and that can support them through coaching and in-house professional development.
Lastly, educational leaders have an amazing responsibility over the educational lives of students. I take this responsibility seriously and always strive to be a positive role model and communicator. I seek to be patient, humble, ethical, compassionate, empathetic, and understanding and will work hard to produce success for all stakeholders.
