Rome is famous for many things, not least of all for its amazing food.
Depending on what you're after, there's an infinite list of options to choose from.
Due to it's popularity with tourist, there are unfortunately many places that serve food that isn't great and it's overpriced, so before you sit anywhere make sure to check out a menu - and perhaps check our some reviews online.
To help out, I put together this list of places I have personally tried and would happily go back to. They range from gelato and 'pizza al taglio' (both essential) places, to more full-on restaurants and bars (also essential).
Below you can find the map with some suggestions. If you need more, just ask.
Some must-try in Rome for me are:
Supplì
Best way to describe it is a delicious breaded and fried risotto ball with melted mozzarella in the middle. Doesn't get much better than that...
Great places for them are Roscioli and Supplì.
Fritti
More fried foods, include olive ascolane, mozzarelle (my favs), fiori di zucca and more. Gotta try them.
Great places for them are Le Carrette and L'Elementare.
Pizza al taglio
Yes it's pizza, but it's squared and you choose as much as you want in whichever flavour/s you want. Great for lunch, as a snack, or just because it's near you.
Great places for it are Il Forno and Roscioli.
Aperitivo
Great excuse to drink while snacking during the day. If you're on holiday and it's past noon, it's allowed. Most appropriate from 4pm onwards, but no one's judging.
Great places for it are Emporio della Pace and Ai Tre Scalini.
I suggested a couple of places for each one but there are genuinely so many...
