Medical Urgency Guide
Things that don’t require medical intervention:
One episode of vomiting or diarrhea
Sneezing
Clear eye or nose discharge (not white/opaque)
Occasional scratching, but no hair loss or abrasions
Occasional eye crust or clear eye discharge with no squinting/pawing at the eye, and the discharge stays

Diarrhea for more than 24 hours
Visible worms in stool 48 hours after taking kitty home
Live Fleas
Drop in energy
Limping
Cut, puncture wound, or minor injuries
Very Itchy ears
Cat has not defecated in 48 hours
Ulcers on tongue or in mouth
Cat has lost weight
Vomiting more than occasionally
Opaque (not clear) nasal discharge
Congestion, raspy or crackly breathing
Eye discharge, squinting, swelling
Shakiness, wobbliness, or loss of coordination
Cat is unable to swallow
Cat is very bloated and/or gassy
Cat was eating well, but loses interest in food or stops eating
Cat appears to be in pain

Any 2 out of 3 in combination: vomiting, diarrhea, rapid weight loss
Severe injuries causing neurological impairment, unresponsiveness, significant bleeding, possible broken bones, inability to walk, limping, or pain that does not resolve quickly
Diarrhea that is white, tar-like, very watery, or very bloody, or looks like coffee grounds
No urine in 24 hours with straining or unable to urinate (male cats especially)
Seizures
Cat ingested a toxin or dangerous item
