At APA!, we believe that open, progressive adoption policies save lives. Our goal is to match cats to homes that are good fits while providing exemplary customer service that creates community support and turns visitors into animal advocates and lifelong adopters.
In the Cat Foster Program, this open and progressive adoption policy translates to the guideline that the first inquirer of whom you are notified who submits the first acceptable application after the requisite meet and greet(s) has priority to adopt your foster cat. Note that without the requisite meet and greet(s), an application is not considered acceptable.
How APA! Notifies You of Adoption Inquiries: Our APA! Adopt Line (adopt@austinpetsalive.org) receives potential adopter inquiries regarding our adoptable cats. When a potential adopter inquires about your foster cat, the Adopt Line will notify you of the potential adopter by blind copying you on their email response to the potential adopter. You must reply-all to each forwarded inquiry from the Adopt Line to include the potential adopter.
Required Response Time: Respond to each potential adopter within 24 hours, and reply in the order you receive inquiries. Keeping a log helps you stay organized. See Emailing Adopters for more information.
A Meet 'n Greet is Required: Aopters must meet the cat in person, or virtually, before they can adopt.
Never Hand Off Until the Adoption is Complete: You must verify the adoption has been finalized before sending your foster home with the adopter.
