Put your skills to use!
Identify W's.
Create graphs.
Discuss trends.
What will you do after high school? Let’s explore different job openings and college opportunities to see what is out there.
Decide if you want to collect data on Jobs or Colleges, or something else.
Pick a single location (preferably in the US) where you are interested in living OR pick a career path that you are interested in pursuing.
Go to Indeed.com (or other job search site) and search for your location and/or career. Record the information here (there is a jobs tab at the bottom). Collect data on 20 jobs that you are interested in.
Create a presentation in your Stats folder. You can use this template. Make sure you:
Introduce your topic.
Describe the W's of your data.
Create a display of at least three of your variables. The minimum requirements for your graphs are below:
Graph 1: One categorical variable
Graph 2: One quantitative variable
Graph 3:
Option 1: Categorical with multiple groups
Option 2: Quantitative with multiple groups
DO NOT INCLUDE A GRAPH OF TWO QUANTITATIVE VARIABLES. We haven't covered that yet, but we will.
Discuss: If displaying categorical data, talk about the patterns or trends you see. Include numbers in your descriptions. If your graphs are displaying quantitative data describe the trends and also describe the S's: Shape, (s)Center, Spread & Strangeness. What does your graph show you that you didn’t know from looking at your spreadsheet?
What is the big takeaway?
