# Privacy Policy for Aoshi Media Player
*Last Updated: July 16, 2026*
This Privacy Policy explains how **Aoshi Media Player** ("we," "our," or "the App") handles your data. The App is designed as a local-first media player. We prioritize user privacy and minimize data collection.
---
## 1. No Personal Information Collection
We do not require user registration, accounts, or profiles to use the App. We do not collect, store, or transmit personal details such as your name, email address, phone number, or contact list.
---
## 2. Local Media Files & Device Storage
The App requires access to your device's local storage to scan, index, and play your audio and video files.
- **Local Scan Directories**: By default, the App scans files in standard folders such as `/Music`, `/Movies`, `/Download`, `/DCIM`, and `/Recordings`, or any custom directories you explicitly add.
- **Supported Formats**: Audio (mp3, m4a, wav, ogg, flac, aac) and Video (mp4, mkv, mov, avi, webm).
- **All Local Processing**: All indexing, playlist creation, file naming, and metadata caching (including video thumbnails and album artwork) are stored locally on your device using a secure local database (Hive). No media files or metadata are uploaded to our servers or any cloud services.
---
## 3. Device Permissions
To function correctly, the App requests permissions from your operating system. You may grant or revoke these permissions at any time via your device settings:
- **Audio & Video Access (Android 13+)**: Requested via `READ_MEDIA_AUDIO` and `READ_MEDIA_VIDEO` to scan and playback media.
- **Storage Access (Android 10 - 12)**: Requested via `READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` and `WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` to view and play files.
- **Manage External Storage (Android 11+)**: Requested via `MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` (All Files Access) solely when you perform file operations like renaming, editing audio tags, or deleting files from your device.
- **Network Permissions**: Requested via `INTERNET` and `ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE` to check connectivity, load advertisements, and fetch lyrics.
---
## 4. Third-Party Services & Data Transmission
When the App is connected to the internet, it interacts with third-party service providers. These services may collect technical data as described below:
### A. Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
We display banner, interstitial, and rewarded advertisements in the App (unless you have purchased the "Remove Ads" option).
- **Non-Personalized Ads**: We configure all ad requests to serve **non-personalized ads**. This means ads are not targeted based on your past behavior or user profile.
- **Data Collected**: Although ads are non-personalized, Google AdMob still collects standard technical identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID or Apple IDFA), device parameters (OS, model, carrier), network/IP addresses (for general coarse geographic location), and ad interaction telemetry. This information is used for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and combatting fraud (including verifying rewarded ad completions).
- **Reward Tracking**: Your progress for ad rewards (e.g., ad-free time remaining or interval counters) is saved entirely locally on your device's database (Hive). We do not transmit or store your reward status on any external servers.
- **Privacy Policy**: You can view Google's privacy policy at [https://policies.google.com/privacy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).
### B. LRCLIB Lyrics API (`lrclib.net`)
The App allows you to search and download synchronized or plain text lyrics for your playing tracks.
- **Data Transmitted**: When you search for lyrics, the App sends only the currently playing track's `artist_name` and `track_name` to the public database at `https://lrclib.net`.
- **Server Logs**: LRCLIB receives standard web request headers (such as your public IP address and user-agent) necessary to process the search query. No personal files or files contents are transmitted.
---
## 5. Data Retention & Wiping
Since all user databases (playlists, favorites, cached lyrics, and settings) are stored locally, this data is retained until:
- You clear the App's data/cache in your device settings.
- You uninstall the App.
Uninstalling the App will completely erase all associated local databases and cached media files from your device. Physical media files (songs/videos) are not deleted when uninstalling the App.
---
## 6. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect or request personal information from children. Because we do not collect any personal data, the App is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
---
## 7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy inside the App or on our store page. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes.
---
