Resource List: Resources for Teachers
This inspiring young girl aims to empower others to learn about agriculture! Through her videos, she focusses on relevant topics in the Ag industry, usually based on the season, and promotes agriculture at events and through social media, as well as being a volunteer guest speaker in 3rd through 6th grade classrooms within the Classroom Agriculture Program. Mady speaks with passion and deep knowledge, and is an incredible role model to everyone, including us! Way to go Mady!
Her videos explain a wide variety of agriculture topics, and would be a useful classroom resource due to her relatability with students, as her videos are from her point of view on the farm, as well as the amazing information covered within the videos! Nutrients for Life showcases a wide variety of Agriculture and land related resources. Anything from lesson plans, to games, to videos and so much more, Nutrients for Life, has you covered, across course content and grade levels! Nutrients for Life also has a garden program with grants to help you bring a garden to your school, further showcasing their dedication to teaching students where their food comes from, and the processes to making it.
"A Little Green Thumbs garden is more than the sum of its parts! We are an indoor classroom gardening program which creates dynamic learning opportunities for teachers and students by supporting them to grow food in their classrooms" (Little Green Thumbs, 2018). Along with the gardening aspect, Little Green Thumbs offers experiments readings, and activities on all things agriculture, organized by grade level, course connections and provincial curriculums!
"Agriculture in the Classroom Canada (AITC-C) is a Canadian charitable organization with a vision to bring agriculture to every classroom, inspiring every student. Food connects us ALL to agriculture. In a complex and changing world, it is more important than ever to inspire the next generation to care about the food they eat, where it comes from, and how it gets to their plates" (AITC, 2023). Along with this, AITC provides free resources for teachers, including mini lessons, lesson plans, videos, posters, books and more!

Ag for Life Alberta, the Alberta Sector of AITC, provides many resources, crafts, toolkits, publications, fact sheets, and SO much more for teachers to easily bring agriculture and ag focuses through their lessons.
Not only does the Classroom Agriculture Program have an entire published guide to agriculture activities for teachers to explore and implement, but they run a classroom program where volunteers come in to Grade 4 classrooms and present on agriculture! Volunteers are assigned based on schools requests, and this opportunity is so beneficial to start the conversation on agriculture with an expert.
4H provides opportunities for any kind of hands on experience. From its expansive club and project offerings, camps, conferences, science fairs, scholarships and resources, 4H can easily be slipped into the curriculum! The most obvious being the public speaking portion, however, beyond that, 4H has a variety of resources and activities about agriculture, food, sustainability and more!
John Deere has its own section dedicated to kids! From a YouTube kids channel introducing machinery, careers and farming operations, to colouring and activity pages, to LEGO partnerships and even Minecraft agriculture tutorials, John Deere Kids showcases how agriculture learning can start at even the youngest of ages!
