I had the amazing opportunity to serve as a student speaker for TEDxSLU. Although, this was not an officially branded TEDx event, it was a spectacular experience. I chose to speak about how perfection has rooted itself as an expectation within our society, the costs of perfection, and how to move forward and cope with such costs. I feel that this talk sheds some light on a very important topic that we often neglect and ignore which can lead to horrible consequences.
I had the honor to write an article for Supportiv’s Amplify collection. This collection is comprised of articles meant to amplify marginalized voices in mental health by sharing stories and highlighting different issues. My article is focused on the high prevalence of high-functioning anxiety within the Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) community. Specifically, it highlights the normalization of the sacrifice of mental and physical health for academic and professional success within the APIDA community.
