Thesis Title: Inverters Based Resources: Control Towards Grid Support Functionalities and Improved Reliability [Abstract ]
Thesis Description: The increasing deployment of renewable energy sources poses several challenges to the operation of the legacy grid due to their low inertia, intermittent power profile, and unavailability due to environmental conditions. My Ph.D. dissertation addresses a few of these challenges, including short-term voltage intermittency and poor reliability of the power converters. Furthermore, I have also studied the possibility of engaging renewable energy sources for harmonic compensation for both islanded and grid-connected applications.

Thesis Title: Adaptive Reactive Power Injection by PV Inverter to Minimize Tap Changing Operations of OLTC [Abstract ]
Thesis Description: Conventionally, on-load tap changing transformers (OLTCs), step voltage regulators (SVRs), etc., are used to regulate the voltage. These equipment are designed to work in the passive distribution network. However, the growing deployment of PV or other renewable energy sources results in variations in voltage due to their intermittent power profile. This might result in a higher number of tap operations of OLTCs, which reduces their lifetime. My M. Tech dissertation explored the possibility of engaging installed PV inverters or other renewable energy sources to reduce the voltage variation by injecting reactive power and, thereby, minimizing the tap operations of OLTCs.
