Jade Nguyen is a senior at Mater Dei Catholic High School. Apart from being the founder and Secretary-General at ANTS MUN, she also serves as the club president at her school's MUN. During her 2-year active involvement in high school Model UN, you could never catch her in any committees other than ECOSOC. Her passion for forming policy on the economy and trade was further deepened when she had the opportunity to work with YOUNGO – the youth constituency of UNFCC. Being selected as the national delegate of Vietnam, she engaged in unlimited discussions with national officials, policymakers, and nonprofits from the Asia-Pacific regions to propose and deliver resolutions on climate finance to COP29 last year.
When she's not debating resolutions, she loves exploring the cities and spending time with her family and friends – a coffee trip would never disappoint her. Additionally, she enjoys playing lacrosse and tennis.
Lee Jaques is a senior at High Tech High North County and the president of HTHNC Model UN. For the past six years, he has been involved in Model UN in multiple capacities, from being a delegate to leading internal conferences at my school. As he came to join his school’s Model UN in my freshman year, he took on the challenge of running his crisis committee, captivated by the chaos that comes with crisis. Throughout his years in MUN, he has been involved as both a delegate and a chair in six crisis committees, with their freedom and enjoyment bringing him back each time.
Outside of MUN, he is heavily involved with music. He has played shows across Southern California and taught how to play piano and bass during an internship at a music school in Oceanside. He has a passion for teaching his peers and students, having grown up assisting his mom at an antique museum in their education and administration departments. As he leaves high school, he hopes to become a teacher in social sciences.
Owen Archbold currently attends La Jolla High School as a senior.
He is the current President of La Jolla High’s Model UN Club and has been an active participant in MUN for the past 3 years.
His life outside of Model UN revolves around clubs and art. By senior year he ended up in leadership positions for 3 clubs and thus has become a master at Google Slides. His other free time is spent drawing, painting, and learning to sew.
Yarden Zanani is a Torah High School junior dedicated to Model UN for the past three years. Throughout this time, she has participated as both a delegate and a staffer, gaining valuable experience in various capacities. Her MUN journey began in ninth grade at SDRJMUN, where she represented Turkey on the IMO committee, debating the effects of single-use plastic on the ocean. Through her research and dynamic debate, she ultimately earned the Outstanding Delegate award in her committee Since then, she has taken on leadership roles at conferences, serving as everything from a page to a vice-chair. She is particularly drawn to environmental and humanitarian committees, such as IMO, WHO, and UNDP, where she can engage in critical discussions on global sustainability and public health.
Beyond MUN, Yarden enjoys mentoring and coaching fellow students in her school’s MUN club, helping to foster a new generation of passionate delegates. She is also actively involved in her school’s drama club, having performed in productions like Newsies and Frozen. When not immersed in debate or theater, she loves hiking with her dog, listening to music, and spending quality time with friends and family.
