I am an applied economist with my research focused on the economics of health and health care. I use my skills to both advance knowledge in health economics and to contribute health economics thinking to multidisciplinary research teams in areas of public health and health services research.

Currently, I hold a position of Research Fellow at the Centre for the Business and Economics of Health, The University of Queensland. I have more than 6 years of experience in developing and proposing data-driven solutions to applied questions in healthcare and health outcomes research. One of my main research areas focuses on developing and evaluating digital health innovations aiming to improve the provision of value-based healthcare services and provide better patient outcomes and experience. For example, I led a research team to develop a machine learning estimator for emergency department waiting time predictions that outperformed by over 40% the rolling average estimator, which is the most popular algorithm used in Australian hospitals. This project has already gained significant impact and we received competitive grant funding to implement this digital health innovation.

I have also extensive experience with the use of econometric and statistical software packages, such as Stata and R analysing large complex datasets (e.g. Medicare, HILDA, patient-level datasets) in cross-sectional and panel settings. My research skills include expertise in writing research proposals and human ethics applications. My publications in leading field journals show my ability to conduct independent economic research, as well as work collaboratively in teams to ensure successful project outcomes. I have also achieved national and international recognition with my research being commended by the Government, and I have recently co-delivered a modelling seminar for the WHO Western Pacific group on the health systems and economic implications of COVID-19. Furthermore, I have presented my research findings at highly selective national and international conferences, seminars and workshops.
