In 2021, my colleagues nominated me for the annual VASCD Leadership Award, which acknowledges people who demonstrate true understanding of curriculum, assessment, and instruction and inspire others through their leadership.

Based on the work my team and I did while I served as the Principal of York High School with the York County School Division (YCSD), I was named the 2012 Virginia High School Principal of the Year.

This was incredible honor that allowed me to attend an advocacy and awards ceremony in Washington DC, where we met with national legislators to discuss education reform. This award is given annual through the national Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP).

This was an award that resulted from a nomination by the York High School Student Council Association for my work as the Principal of York High.
