ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT WORKING GROUP (Small School Divisions)
Chair
This working group was developed in collaboration with the School University Research Network (SURN) at the College of William and Mary.
Its purpose is to provide a forum for the Assistant Superintendents from small school division (,10,000 students) to meet to discuss issues relevant to the school programming.
I assisted in the development of this working group and served as its first chair from 2017-2020.

Provided an overview of the Aspiring Leaders Learning Series that we initiated in Poquoson City Public Schools to provide aspiring administrators with professional learning, career advice, and mock interview practice.

Between 2016/17 and 2018/19, the following increases in SOL test scores occurred:
Grade 3 Math: from 87% to 95%
Grade 8 Math: From 70% to 94%
Geometry (HS): From 76% to 83%
Graduation Rate in 2019/20 = 95%
58% of students earned an advanced studies diploma
SAT Exam Scores: 81% of students taking AP exams scored a 3 or higher (2018/19)
SAT scores above the state and national average (2018 Reading Mean 571; 2018 Math Mean 575)
Increase in the number of Dual Enrollment courses (from one to four)
Established a partnership with Newport News Public Schools for students to participate in the Aviation Academy program

Innovation Network
Lead and team member of the inaugural Virginia Innovation Network group for the state of Virginia. This was a joint effort between the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and the Virginia School Consortium for Learning (VASCL).
Outcomes:
Collaborated with West Point Public Schools (WPPS)and Middlesex County Public Schools (MCPS)
Created a common language document for stakeholders
Developed a 5 C's rubric for K-5 and 6-12 teacher use
Created collaborative content meetings with WPPS and MCPS in the areas of math, English, Science and Social Studies

NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR SCHOOL LEADERSHIP
Certified Facilitator and Instructional Coach
Completed a 13 month program to become a certified facilitator and instructional coach in the NISL Executive Development Program. Currently serve as a faculty member of the Virginia Foundation for Educational Leadership (VFEL) and have facilitated Executive Leadership training sessions for a cohort of administrators on various school divisions across Virginia.

Presentation topic: Using Protocols for Powerful Professional Development
Provided an overview of the use of various protocols (i.e. Consultancy Protocol, ChalkTalk) to enhance the professional learning for administrators, teachers, and other staff. Protocols are from the National School Reform Faculty.
TABB MIDDLE SCHOOL
Student Achievement
Standards of Learning Assessment scores in English increased from 83% to 90% and increased from 89% to 93% for math while Principal of Tabb Middle School (2012-2015)
YORK HIGH SCHOOL
Student Achievement
On-Time Graduation rates for all students increased from 81% to 92% and increased from 52% to 77% for African-American students while Principal of York High School (2008-2012)
