Product Development Process
In the fall of 2020, with the guidance of industry professionals, I gained in depth experience with system integration in the Product Development Process by leading an MIT 17 person team through the various design and implementation milestones as Project Manager. Our final alpha prototype Revolve is a rehabilitation dumbbell focusing on generating unique shoulder muscle stimulation. The most updated product brochure is located on the right, and the entire product development process I led for Revolve is shown below in phases: Idea Generation, Sketch Model, Assembly Review, Technical Review, and Final Review. Idea Generation
The Product Development Process began with generating multitudinous ideas for various societal problems in the first phase, Idea Generation. Once the various ideas were discussed and analyzed in depth, focusing on key attributes such as user-needs, feasibility, and market, my team selected the top idea (Revolve) out of the 3 best ideas to the left to proceed to the next stage of the development process: Sketch Modeling.
For the following phases, there will be photos of Revolve as its design updates and optimizes through the stages, along with a respective video presentation from my team detailing the results of that milestone.
Sketch Model
Sketch Model
The second phase includes the development of a sketch model - a preliminary prototype of Revolve that demonstrates looks-like and works-like functionality. The most fundamental aspect of the design is tested in this phase to prove feasibility.

The third phase includes incorporating feedback from the Sketch Model and developing full-scale, ready-to-manufacture CAD models of all involved systems.

The fourth phase includes incorporating design feedback from the Assembly Review and manufacturing iterative, next-stage prototypes while constantly complementing with user input and research.

The final phase includes incorporating final feedback from the Technical Review and manufacturing further prototypes, culminating in our final product Revolve, showcased in our Product Launch demonstration below.
