Although relatively new to Boone County and the Northern Kentucky area, Antoine Smith-Rouse brings a wealth of experience in education, advocacy, and board involvement that makes him an exceptional candidate for the Boone County School Board.
A Family-Centered Perspective:
Antoine and his husband Jeremiah are devoted fathers to nine children, seven of whom are still at home. With children ranging from ages three to twenty-three, including those with special needs, Antoine has a deep, personal understanding of the complexities within the education system from pre-K through 12th grade and beyond. His children are actively engaged in various schools, including Stephens Elementary, Longbranch Elementary, and a recent 2024 Cooper High School graduate, providing him with a comprehensive perspective on the diverse needs of Boone County students.
Community Involvement and Leadership:
Prior to relocating to Northern Kentucky, Antoine was a pillar of the Owensboro community. His extensive involvement included:
Serving as the minority parent representative on Apollo High School’s SBDM.
Co-chairing the Audubon Area Community Services Policy Council.
Serving as a board member for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Daviess County and the Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport.
Volunteering with Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky and CASA.
Participating in the Foust Elementary Family Resource Center Council.
Co-chairing the Race Community Child Welfare Committee with the Department of Community Based Services.
Antoine’s dedication to community service earned him the esteemed title of Honorary Kentucky Colonel.

Since moving to Boone County to be closer to Cincinnati Children's Hospital for a child's medical needs, Antoine's commitment to community engagement has remained unwavering. He has:
Participated in Engage Boone County facilitated by the fiscal court.
Served as the minority parent representative for Longbranch Elementary SBDM.
Served on the Parent Advisory Committee at Ballyshannon Middle School.
Served as the minority parent representative on the Boone County Superintendent Screening Committee.
A current Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership (CIPL) fellow through the Prichard Committee.

Additionally, Antoine and his husband facilitate foster/adoptive parent training and support groups across Kentucky, underscoring their commitment to supporting families and children.
