!!Breaking News!!

10/2023 - Rita Oliveira successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled 'In vivo characterization of brain tissue microstructure'! You've done top-level research Rita, we're all very proud of you! It was a pleasure to watch you grow into such an accomplished scientist!

Breaking News!! 09/2023 The MRI physics group has published not one but two scientific papers this month:

Congratulations to all involved - Quentin in particular for his hard work!

Breaking News!! 07/2023 Rita Oliveira's paper entitled 'Single-subject electroencephalography measurement of interhemispheric transfer time for the in-vivo estimation of axonal morphology' is now published in Human Brain Mapping. Congratulations for this great work Rita!

Breaking News!! 06/2023 Quentin & Rita both presented their work at the Annual Meeting of the ISMRM in Toronto with great success! Quentin's abstract was even selected for an oral presentation for the second consecutive year, and was assigned a Summa Cum Laude award! This work, entitled "Data acquisition strategies to mitigate cardiac-induced noise in quantitative R2* maps of the brain" was conducted in collaboration with Ruud van Heeswijk, Jérôme Yerly & Chris Roy, from the cardio-vascular imaging group here in Lausanne.

Breaking News!! 08/2022 Thomas Dardano successfully defended his EPFL master thesis! Congratulations, Thomas, we're very proud of you! And we are also very impressed by the work that you did in the lab, great stuff!!

Breaking News!! 05/2022 Quentin Raynaud's abstract "Characterization of cardiac noise in brain quantitative relaxometry MRI data" has been selected for an oral presentation at the 31st Annual Meeting of the ISMRM in London! Well done Quentin!

Breaking News!! 04/2022 Rita Oliveira's paper on the estimation of axonal morphology from in-vivo MRI and EEG data is now published in Frontiers in Neuroscience - Brain Imaging Methods. This article is available here. This is Rita's first 1st-author paper - may it be the 1st of a long list! Congratulations to you Rita!

Breaking News!! 02/2022 Thomas Dardano, master student in engineering at EPFL, has joined the group for an intenship of 6 months. Welcome Thomas, we're excited to start working with you!

Breaking News!! 02/2022 - The article 'Restoring statistical validity in group analyses of motion-corrupted MRI data' is now published in Human Brain Mapping. This study, which was conducted with collaborators across Europe, addresses the effect of head motion artefacts on the statistical analysis of MRI data - a ubiquitous problem in neuroimaging studies. More details here.

Breaking News!! 11/2021 - A team of 12 co-applicants at Lausanne University Hospital, including Prof. Lutti, has been awarded an instrumentation grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation. The project, entitled 'Low-Field MRI - the Next Frontier', is led by Prof. Matthias Stuber and aims to pioneer MRI applications at low magnetic field. We're excited to be part of the team!

Breaking News!! 09/2021 - Invited talk at the #niQC working group by Prof Lutti entitled 'Using a Quality Control metric in the statistical analysis of motion-corrupted MRI data'. A recording of this talk is available here.

Breaking News!! 09/2021 - Rita Oliveira successfully presented a scientific poster entitled 'Estimating axonal morphology in-vivo from MRI and EEG data' at the @EBBS conference! Well done Rita!

Breaking News!! New scientific article by Olga Trofimova entitled ‘Brain tissue properties link cardio-vascular risk factors, mood and cognitive performance in the CoLaus|PsyCoLaus epidemiological cohort’ (Neurobiology of Aging 2021). Superb, Olga!

Breaking News!! New paper in Neuroimage by Lucien Gyger et al., entitled ‘Temporal trajectory of brain tissue property changes induced by electroconvulsive therapy’ (2021). Congrats Lucien, well done!

Breaking News!! Congratulations to Nicola Marchi for his article in Annals of Neurology (2020), entitled ‘Mean Oxygen Saturation during Sleep Is Related to Specific Brain Atrophy Pattern’. Well done Nicola!

Breaking News!! Congratulations to Giulia Di Domenicantonio for her e-poster presentation entitled 'QUIQI – using a QUality Index for the analysis of Quantitative Imaging data' at the  2020 conference of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine!

Oct 2019 - I am delighted to welcome 2 new PhD students in my group - Rita Oliveira & Quentin Raynaud!

Rita will study the relationship between MRI indices of brain myelination and the EEG signal, in close collaboration with Dr Marzia De Lucia at LREN!

Quentin will develop novel MRI acquisition and modelling strategies for the study of iron deposits in sub-cortical regions – in collaboration with Dr Ruud van Heeswijk & the cardio-vascular imaging group at CHUV.

These are innovative and exciting projects that will open new avenues for the study of the microscopic properties of the brain in-vivo!

Welcome Rita & Quentin, looking forward to some exciting new science
