Antoine Lutti's research group is part of the Laboratory for Neuroimaging Research (LREN), Lausanne University Hospital, Lausanne, Switzerland. The research activities of the laboratory focus on the understanding of brain changes in health and disease, in relationship with cognition and behaviour. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can be used safely in-vivo on patient populations and is the primary technique used by the laboratory for the acquisition of data. In particular, quantitative MRI techniques allow the measurement of microscopic properties of brain tissue such as myelin, iron and water concentration. Combined with measures of cognition and behaviour, quantitative MRI is a unique tool to monitor in-vivo microscopic changes in the brain and understand their effects on symptoms.

The development of quantitative MRI markers of the microscopic properties of the brain is the focus of the research activities of our group. We aim to provide specific quantitative MRI markers that allow the detailled monitoring of disease evolution, opening new avenues for our understanding of brain pathology and treatment. Our activities span a wide range of expertise including MRI physics (design of data acquisition techniques), biology (biophysical modelling of the MRI signal) and image analysis.
