I am a reviewer for zbMATH (Zentralblatt MATH) and MathSciNet.
Together with Matthew Foulkes, I co-lead the Theme on Fundamental Science and Machine Learning within the faculty-wide Big Data and Machine Learning in the Natural Sciences activity at Imperial College.
From 2021-2024, I am a UK Research and Innovation Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UKRI–EPSRC) Mathematical Sciences Early Career Forum member. As a forum member, I represent young mathematicians in the UK and advocate for our research needs, as well as promote the EPSRC in the mathematical sciences community in the UK.
Conference Organization & Committees
Past:
Carlos Améndola, Elina Robeva, Bernd Sturmfels and I resubmitted our proposal to host a 5-day Banff International Research Station (BIRS) workshop on Computations and Data in Algebraic Statistics and it was accepted to run at the Casa Matemática Oaxaca in Mexico from 14-19 May 2023!
Alexander Strang, David Rosenbluth and I are organizing a 5-day workshop at the Banff International Research Station (BIRS) on Applications of Hodge Theory on Networks, to be held at the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery in Banff, Canada from 29 January-3 February 2023.
Mathias Drton, Kaie Kubjas, and I are organizing a series of workshops on the theme of Algebraic Methods in Data Science where we explore the interplay of algebraic topology and algebraic geometry in statistical and machine learning contexts. Our three research groups have interacted in an initial foundational event online on 22-23 November 2021 and have an upcoming online data camp and hackathon planned for 10-14 January 2022 where we will focus on the applications of techniques from topological data analysis, numerical algebraic geometry and algebraic statistics to real data. Finally, we will be meeting in person in Munich from 28 March-4 April 2022 to work on methodological and theoretical developments. These workshops are funded by a TUM Global Incentive Fund award (€8,100).
Carlos Améndola, Elina Robeva, Bernd Sturmfels and I decided to cancel our 5-day Banff International Research Station (BIRS) workshop on Computations and Data in Algebraic Statistics, which was to be held at the Casa Matemática Oaxaca in Mexico from 19-24 September 2021, in light of continued travel difficulties of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Carlos Améndola and I organized the Minisymposium on Data Structures in Tropical Geometry at the SIAM Conference on Applied Algebraic Geometry (AG21) online, from 16-20 August 2021.
Carlos Améndola, Ruriko Yoshida, and I organized the Minisymposium on Tropical Geometry in Statistics at the SIAM Conference on Applied Algebraic Geometry (SIAM AG19) at the University of Bern, Switzerland, from 9-13 July 2019.
Uli Bauer and I organized a 5-day Banff International Research Station (BIRS) workshop on Topological Data Analysis: Developing Abstract Foundations, which was held at the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery in Banff, Canada from 30 July-4 August 2017.
Pablo Cámara and I organized the Workshop on Mathematical Methods in Cancer Evolution and Heterogeneity, which was held at the Simons Center for Systems Biology, at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ, USA from 1-2 June 2017.
Vin de Silva and I organized the 7th Edition of Algebraic Topology: Methods, Computation & Science (ATMCS), which took place at the ISI Foundation and the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy, from 25-29 July 2016.
I was a program committee member for GeoTopoNets2016: Network Geometry & Topology, a satellite meeting of NetSci2016, at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Seoul, South Korea, on 30 May 2016.
I was a program committee member for TopoNets14:Topology & Networks, a satellite meeting of NetSci2014, at UC Berkeley, CA, USA, on 2 June 2014.
