Antarctica21, our operator partner for the main portion of the trip, requires participants have travel insurance that at least covers emergency medical evacuation (which is a good idea either way). While you are welcome to purchase your own insurance, we have partnered with a reliable and trusted insurance provider, Travel Insured International, to offer travelers plans that meet recommendations for Antarctica. Through them, we can offer the following options:
Please click here for an overview of the plan (or here to see the full plan document).
This plan is especially competitive for older travelers (60/65+) since the premium is not tied to age.
Choosing minimum coverage only (just emergency medical evacuation) is as inexpensive as $25.
If also insuring some or all of the trip cost, the costs vary as per this image, depending on:
How much of the trip cost you cover (most folks do their main trip cost, though this is entirely up to you)
If you choose “Cancel for Any Reason” (CFAR, a time-sensitive benefit that requires full non-refundable cost to be insured).
Sign-up & payment by credit card is easy. Clicking either button below will take you to a form pre-filled with trip details.
Notes:
If you’d like Cancel-for-Any-Reason coverage, you should do that within two weeks of your trip deposit. (4)
Pre-existing conditions are covered as long as the plan is paid for before final trip payment. (5 ).
If your trip has to be unexpectedly postponed, rest assured your policy can be as well.
Younger travelers looking to insure their full trip cost may find slightly more competitive rates by buying an individual plan. We still recommend Travel Insured International (TII), and you can access our portal on their site at http://bit.ly/osetravelinsured to look into options. Their WorldWide Trip Protector (WTP) Plans are very similar to the group plan. The WTP plans allow optional CFAR coverage up to 21 days after initial deposit (the plans must also be purchased within this same time frame for pre-existing medical conditions to be covered for cancellation).
Note: For questions about insurance & COVID-19, consider reviewing TII’s helpful resource page, or their COVID FAQ page.
