**App name:** Ansaar
**Effective date:** 30 July 2026
**Developer:** Talha Saqib
**Contact:** jugnulabs@gmail.com
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, why, and your
choices. By using the App you agree to this policy.
## Who we are
The App is a personal prayer-habit tracker that lets you log your five daily
prayers, build a streak, and optionally connect with friends ("companions") for
mutual encouragement. It is operated by an independent developer (contact above).
## How you sign in
You can use the App in two ways:
- **As a guest** — you can start tracking prayers immediately without giving us
any personal details. A guest account is anonymous: we store an internal
account identifier and your prayer logs, but no name or email address. The
social features are not available to guests.
- **With Google Sign-in** — signing in with your Google account gives us your
email address and lets you use companions and the leaderboard. If you started
as a guest, signing in upgrades the *same* account, so your existing logs and
streak are preserved.
We do not offer email/password accounts and never see or store a password.
## Information we collect
We only collect what the App needs to work:
- **Account information** — the email address associated with the Google account
you sign in with, and, if you set them, a display name, username, and chosen
avatar character. We do **not** collect or upload photos.
- **Prayer activity** — the prayers you log and their status, your current and
longest streak, and derived consistency figures.
- **Social data (only if you use companions)** — friend requests you send or
accept, your list of companions, activity you broadcast to companions (e.g.
that you prayed — never which prayers or how), and reactions/encouragements.
- **Support content you send us** — in-app feedback you submit, and automatic
error/crash reports to help us fix bugs. A crash report contains the technical
details of the failure (the error and where in the code it happened), your
device model and Android version, the App version, and which screen you were
on. It does **not** contain your name, email, or anything you have prayed.
- **Safety reports** — if you report another user, we store your report: who you
reported, the reason you chose, any note you add, and the reported person's
display name and username at the time. Reports are private and are never shown
to the person reported.
We do **not** collect contacts, advertising identifiers, or biometric data, and
we do **not** use advertising trackers or analytics that profile you. We do use
one third-party service to receive the crash reports described above — see
**Where your data is stored** below.
## Location (prayer times)
If you choose to turn on prayer times or prayer-time reminders, the App asks for
your device's location **once** and uses it to calculate the prayer times for
your area. This is optional; the rest of the App works without it.
Your precise **coordinates are stored only on your device** and used only for
on-device calculation — they are **never uploaded** to our servers.
From that location we derive your **country** (only the country, never a precise
place). Your country is saved to your profile so a small country flag can be
shown next to your name to your companions. People who are **not** your
companions (in Discover and search) can also see it: this is **on by default**,
and you can turn it off at any time with the **Public location** toggle in
**Privacy** settings. You can revoke location access at any
time in your device settings; the App then stops showing prayer times, and your
stored country stays as last set until you change it in the App.
## Notifications
Prayer-time reminders, an optional end-of-day reminder to log your prayers, and
the occasional "you haven't logged in a while" nudge are **local notifications
scheduled on your device**. Nothing leaves your phone for these.
Separately, if you allow notifications, we collect a **push notification token**
for your device so that companion activity can reach you: when someone sends you
a companion request, accepts your request, sends you a nudge, or says MashaAllah
on a prayer you logged. The token identifies the device, not you, and is stored
so that only your own account can read it. Each of these four categories can be
turned off individually under **Reminders** in the App.
We never send marketing or promotional notifications, and your prayer logs are
never included in a notification to anyone else.
## How we use your information
- To provide core features: logging, streaks, statistics, reminders.
- To operate the optional social layer (companions, discovery/search, leaderboard
framed around encouragement, activity feed, reactions).
- To respond to feedback and diagnose crashes and bugs.
- To secure accounts and prevent abuse.
We do **not** sell your personal information, and we do **not** use it for
advertising.
## What other people can see
Privacy is consent-based: no one is added as a companion without accepting a
request. Companions and the friends-only leaderboard can see only **aggregate**
figures — your current streak, longest streak, 30-day consistency, whether you've
prayed today, and your member-since date. They can **never** see the breakdown of
how you prayed (e.g. in congregation vs. alone) or your individual prayer logs.
If you sign in with Google, your **display name, username, and avatar** are
discoverable by other signed-in users so they can send you a companion request.
Your **Privacy** setting controls what a non-companion sees alongside that
identity: **Public** shows the same aggregate figures a companion sees — your
current streak, longest streak, 30-day consistency, and whether you've prayed
today; **Private** shows your name and username only, with your stats hidden
until you accept them as a companion. You can switch between the two at any time
in Settings → Privacy. Either way, the breakdown of *how* you prayed and your
individual prayer logs are never shown to anyone. Your email address is never shown to other users. Guest (anonymous)
accounts are not discoverable at all.
## Reporting and blocking
If another user's name, username, or behaviour is objectionable, you can
**report** them from their profile in the App. Reports go to us for review and
are never shown to the person reported.
You can also **block** a user. Blocking is mutual: you and that person stop
seeing each other anywhere in the App — discovery, search, companions, the
leaderboard, and the activity feed — and neither of you can send the other a
companion request. If you were companions, that ends. You can see and reverse
your blocks at any time under Profile → Blocked users.
## Where your data is stored (processors)
The App uses **Google Firebase** (Firebase Authentication — including Google
Sign-in and anonymous sign-in — and Cloud Firestore) to store and process the
data above. Your prayer-time settings (location, calculation method, reminder
preferences) are kept in local storage on your device only, not in Firebase.
Data we do store is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure
(europe-west3 region). Google acts as our data processor; see Google's Privacy
Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
To deliver the notifications described above we also use two processors:
**Cloudflare** (Workers), which runs the small service that decides whether a
notification is allowed and passes it on, and **Expo** (Expo Push Service), which
hands it to Google's delivery network for Android. They receive only your device's
push token and the text of the notification. See
https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ and https://expo.dev/privacy.
To find and fix crashes and slowness we use **Sentry** (Functional Software,
Inc.), hosted in the **European Union**. Sentry receives only the crash and
performance reports described above — the error, your device model and Android
version, the App version and the screen you were on. It is configured **not** to
send personal information: no name, no email, and nothing about your prayers. See
https://sentry.io/privacy/.
These companies are our processors: they handle this data on our behalf and only
to provide the service. We do not share your data with any other third parties,
and we never sell it or use it for advertising, except where required by law.
## Data retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can **delete your account**
from within the App at any time (Profile → Account → Delete account); this
removes your profile, prayer logs, and associated records from our database. You
may also contact us at the email above to request deletion.
Full details of what is deleted, what is retained and for how long, and how to
request deletion without the App, are on our account-deletion page:
https://sites.google.com/view/ansaar-app-privacy-policy/delete-account
## Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on Google's
secured infrastructure with access rules restricting who can read or write each
record. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take
reasonable measures to protect your information.
## Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your
country). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you
believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
## Your choices and rights
- Use the App as an anonymous guest, without giving us a name or email.
- Edit your profile, your privacy setting (what non-companions can see), and your
reminders in the App.
- Turn prayer times / location off at any time (in the App or in device settings).
- Remove companions at any time.
- Delete your account and data.
- Depending on your region (e.g. EEA/UK), you may have rights to access, correct,
or delete your data and to object to processing. Contact us to exercise these.
## Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected
by updating the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
