The MVHS class of 1958 celebrated our 61st reunion at the Gorge Vale Golf Club on May 16. We had 27 attending and enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch with lots of visiting. Photos were taken of everyone at the four tables as well as a group photo. They were emailed to everyone attending as well as those who were unable to attend. Many of us meet regularly at the Crooked Goose at 11:30 the first Monday of each month except during the summer. Any Mount Viewite is welcome at the Crooked Goose. That’s it from us for this year.

Mount View Class of 1958 - 60th Reunion
The class of 1958 celebrated their 60th reunion on June 28th 2018 at the Gorge Vale Golf Club. We had an attendance of 45 which included alumni and spouses. We started off with a meet and greet at 5:00 and a sit down dinner at 6:00. There was a lot of chatter, reminiscing and reuniting with old friends and classmates.

The room was set up in two sections with the display area/meet and greet, and the dining area. Marilyn Tomlinson (Ball) borrowed a lot of memorabilia from Spectrum School and put out a great display. Marlene Gordon (Cummins) did a wonderful job on the Memory Tree to pay respect to those who are no longer with us. She was also able to borrow the Mount View banner to put up across the end wall. Garry and Lynnette Cook (Faulks) did the table centres of marigold plants in green foil covers (the school colors) and got us a beautiful cake from Lighthouse Cake Company. Other committee members contributed time and effort into coordinating the event. Thanks to Archie Campbell, Ken Moulson, Jack Waters, Grethe Floyd (Hansen), Sharon Veach (Belfie) and Marg Lewis (Walker)

The following morning we met for breakfast at Cherries Breakfast Bistro on Interurban/Wilkinson Roads. About 18 attended and we had the back area to ourselves and ate from a large and varied menu while listening to Cherrie's standard 50's background music.

The 1958 graduating class of MVHS has been very active in recent years. Our first reunion was the MVHS Homecoming the weekend of May 24, 25 and 26, 1974 when MVHS closed their doors and the new Spectrum High School replaced it, first in the original building and then in the new building on Burnside Road.

The next reunion was our 40th on August 29, 1998 held at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club. Grads from out of town joined the locals and a good time was had by all.

We didn’t meet again until our 50th in 2008. On Friday evening, June 6 we met at the Gorge Vale Golf Club for a wine and cheese reception. On Saturday evening June 7 we held a reunion banquet at the Gorge Vale Golf Club. There was a large group and we had folders for everyone which included historical memorabilia as well as a binder with new photos of our grads and information as to what everyone has been doing with their lives. On Sunday, June 8 we held a picnic at Saanich Historical Artifacts.

For our 55th we had a buffet lunch at Emery Family Hall, St. John The Baptist Heritage Church in Colwood. We had good attendance again with some coming from out of town and we spent the afternoon visiting, followed by dinner at Four Mile House Restaurant We had a breakfast on Sundayat Zanzibar for those who were available.

Plans are underway for our 60th reunion this June 28. We are planning a lunch at the Gorge Vale Golf Club.

In September 2008 the ladies who live in Victoria formed a luncheon group and we meet about 4 times a year at various restaurants but our favourite is the Gorge Vale Golf Club.

Our year and 1959 grads also meet monthly at The Crooked Goose restaurant for a good lunch and visit.

The years between these events we've had annual get togethers, mainly travelling on the Mayne Queen for a morning trip of the Gulf Islands, followed by lunch at either the Stonehouse Pub or the Catalina Restaurant. We also had a dinner at the Waddling Dog Restaurant.
