During a student's academic journey, they learn to break down print texts in order to note questions, areas of confusion, and key ideas, which deepens their comprehension, text connection, and critical thinking skills. Students today live in a technology-rich society, so most of the text that they interact with on a daily basis is digital. It's just as important -- if not more important -- that they are able to interpret, analyze, and evaluate digital texts, especially since much of the information they read online is biased and unreliable. Learning to annotate digital texts through multiple avenues better prepares them to discern fact from fiction and to develop their own perspective and opinions on important issues and information.
