Dot Markers

Here are dot marker activities for Morning Table, centers, or whatever else you need!

When Do I Switch Activities?

• Every 2-3 days or so, depending on child's interest! Of course refresh activities if needed, unless your child wants to add to it the next day.

What You'll Need

• Dot markers ($15 at Walmart)

• Black Sharpie, normal size ($2 at Walmart)

• Black Sharpie, chunky size ($3 at Walmart)

• Markers ($2.60 at Walmart)

• Kraft paper ($6 at Walmart) OR printer paper ($5.80 at Walmart)

Letters

• Write the uppercase/lowercase letters on paper & trace with dot markers

• Draw a black line for lights. Create a key of letter (case, too!) matching color sticker. Match letters to dot markers.

• Write child's name on paper. Trace with dot markers.

• Draw a tree. Create a key for colored apples/leaves (letter = color). Match dots to letters on tree.

Numbers

• Draw caterpillar heads on paper. Write random numbers (pick a reasonable range for your child) next to caterpillar head. Dot number of correct dots for caterpillar's body.

• Write numbers (pick a reasonable range for your child) on paper & trace with dot markers.

• Draw ice cream cones on paper. Assign different numbers (sequential or random). Dot number of ice cream scoop dots that match number on the cone.

• Draw a black line for lights. Create a key of number matching color. Match numbers to dots.

• Draw a tree. Create a key for colored apples/leaves (number = color). Match dots to numbers on tree.

• Draw flower centers with a random number. Dot the same amount of petals to match. (Optional color matching)

Patterns

• Draw dot marker patterns for kid to replicate

• Draw a butterfly & add pattern on half of the butterfly. Complete the butterfly's symmetry!

Colors

• Draw colored shapes. Kids trace with dot markers of the same color. Mix it up, draw shapes half and half!

• Randomly dot different colors on paper. Connect the matching colors with continuous lines.

• Draw a rainbow shape in dots (matching color optional. Challenge them to remember order of rainbow colors). Match with dot markers.

Shapes

• Draw basic shapes on paper & trace with dot markers

Fun

• Draw a green vine, kids dot orange/white on the vine for pumpkins.

• Draw a black string for lights, kids dot on the string for Christmas lights. 

• Draw an Easter egg. Add dots and/or lines (matching color requirement optional). Match dots.

• Draw scribbles/fun shapes/doodles. Trace with dots.

• Draw a Christmas tree on paper. Decorate with dots.

• Create a picture/object (you pick, fun to match to table theme!) with only dots.
