Here are dice activities for Morning Table, centers, or whatever else you need!

When Do I Switch Activities?

• Every 2-3 days or so, depending on child's interest! Of course refresh activities if needed, unless your child wants to add to it the next day.

What You'll Need

• 5 count dice ($3.20 at Walmart)

• 100 count dice ($12.40 at Walmart)

• BBQ skewer ($1 at Walmart)

• Playdoh ($0.60 at Walmart)

• 500 count pony beads ($2 at Walmart)

• Black Sharpie, normal size ($2 at Walmart)

• Black Sharpie, chunky size ($3 at Walmart)

• Markers ($2.60 at Walmart)

• Kraft paper ($6 at Walmart) OR printer paper ($5.80 at Walmart)

Numbers

• "21" Game: 2 Players. First player rolls 2 dice until they get to 21 (Don't go over, you'll lose!) You can stop anytime after a total of 10. Use the kraft paper to add up your roll! If you get exactly 21, you automatically win! Second player rolls the same way. If they stop closer to 21 than first player or roll exactly on 21, they win! If they go over 21, they lose and first player wins!

• "To the Top" Game: Unlimited Players. Place a bbq skewer into a mound of playdoh, roll 1 die as fast as you can, add beads to the skewer that match the number on the die, to "fill" the skewer and get to the top!

• "Back & Forth" Game: 2 Players. Draw a column with 20+ spaces. Center = start, top & bottom = finish. Use 1 pony bead as the game piece. Players sit opposite each other. Player One rolls and moves the dice forward. Player Two rolls and moves the dice forward (back-tracking Player One's move). This continues until one player reaches the opposite finish spot.

• Trace a bunch of dice onto paper. Write numbers 1-6 on them. Roll dice to match and place on top of written numbers.

• Roll, Count, Add: Roll 2 dice. Count out same color pony beads to match value on one die, then the same for the other. Count, then add together.

• Roll & Build: Roll 1-2 dice. Stack other dice however many the first roll said.

• Dice Roll Graph: Pre-draw a bar chart graph . Set a reasonable number limit. Roll 1 die a set number of times and record how often certain numbers pop up. Color coding different numbers is a nice addition. Also, add extra dice to increase difficulty!

Patterns

• Pre-roll 4 dice, trace them in a row, and draw the pattern you rolled. Do this multiple times. Kid rolls the dice and matches pattern. This is great with lots of multi-colored dice to also match colors!
