Area and Perimeter

Example of a question: Can you make me a rectangle with an area of 16 blocks? What is the perimeter? Can you change the shape so the area stays 16 but the perimeter is different.

Write the times table you would use for each shape to find the area quickly without counting each square.

Area is   4x4=16                       Area is   2x8=16   

Show how you add up the sides to find the perimeter.

Perimeter is 4+4+4+4=16         Perimeter is 2+8+2+8=20
