Vehicle replacement subsidies as a climate policy tool: evidence from microdata on vehicles and vehicle owners. With Marita Laukkanen.
We evaluate the impact of the 2018 Finnish scrappage subsidy program on new car purchases and the emission intensity of new cars. We find heterogenous effects of the program both in the extensive and intensive margin. Working paper out soon!
Cross-price elasticities of fuel and other transport modes. With Lassi Ahlvik.
We use data on individual-level daily mobility and postal-code level fuel prices to evaluate how fuel price changes affect demand for public transit, walking and cycling. In progress.
The impact of public charging infrastructure on EV adoption. With Marita Laukkanen and Kimmo Palanne.
We analyse how the availability of public charging on highways affects EV adoption by households. We use data on the full vehicle fleet in Finland, on vehicle owners, public charging station locations and the road network. We construct relevant long-distance routes for each household based on their current place of residence and their birth municipality. In progress.
