What does it mean to ME to be a Global Scholar?
Being a global scholar is learning to look at global issues, international affairs, and different cultures and developing an ability to keep an open mind to see other perspectives. This is a key quality to aim for not just as a global citizen but in life. When we see others’ views on issues, it allows us to work together which is the essential way we can collectively grow and change the issues we want to be resolved. It is very clear that we all have differences, but in the global scholar program, the main goal is to find our similarities and acknowledge our differences to seek the change we wish to see. This year's focus in year two of the program is recognizing perspectives, last year's focus was investigating the world, and I look forward to combining our focuses next year when we explore the communication of ideas.
A Global Citizen Scholar is accepted into the program through an application process, going into her sophomore year, with the purpose to create a meaningful highschool experience enhanced by global opportunities. To remain each year in the Global Citizen Scholar Program a list of requirements must be met in order to graduate from the Scholar Program.
