draped in blue - a page from my diary
waning within a world unwept
a wraith of marrow, frail and thin
through fog and fathoms, icy and kept
by talons that tug from deep within
the waves they wail, the winds they echo
a dirge upon the trembling sea
where silenced phantoms form below
to beckon, plead, “follow me.”
the mist, a frame of fractured woe
entombs my breath in gossamer chains
it’s tendrils whisper raw and slow
of nameless griefs, of nameless pains
sapphire dusk, the lapis gloom
the cobalt hush of dying screams -
each hue a wound, a bleeding womb
that births the dark in poisoned streams
the ocean gapes, abyssal eyed
a void where broken voices weep
and to its siren song, i come, i come
to slip beneath, to fall, to sleep.
no hands will reach, no cries will fall
no breath will stir this solemn view
the tide shall take me, once and for all
forever draped in endless blue
