Xuan (Anna) Li, Ph.D.

Anna received her Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago. During her Ph.D. training in Dr. Marina Wolf's lab, she studied the role of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and associated AMPA receptor trafficking in incubation of cocaine craving. Anna completed her postdoctoral training in Dr. Yavin Shaham's laboratory at National Institute on Drug Abuse in Baltimore under the co-mentorship of Drs. Eric Nestler (Mount Sinai School of Medicine) and Chris Cowan (Medical University of South Carolina). Her postdoc work focused on the circuit and epigenetic mechanisms underlying the incubation of methamphetamine craving. Anna joined the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland College Park in January 2018. Currently, Anna is very busy raising two future gamers during nights and weekends with almost no free time. On rare occasions with a free moment, she enjoys hanging out with friends, watching TV shows, and taking walks with her golden retriever Joy.

Chloe Matheson

Chloe graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in Health Science in 2021. During her undergraduate studies as well as post-graduation, she studied the effects of nicotine and e-cigarette use on vascular and pulmonary health in Dr. Paula Rodriguez-Miguelez’s Lab. She joined the Li lab as a NACS graduate student in Fall 2023. In her free time, she likes to paint, exercise and attend concerts.

Phoebe Cousens

Phoebe received her BS in Neuroscience and MS in Biology from the University of Vermont. Throughout her undergraduate and Master's degrees, Phoebe studied phosphorylation-dependent protein interactions involved in neurodevelopment under the mentorship of Dr. Bryan Ballif. Phoebe will be joining the Li lab Fall 2024 to investigate molecular consequences of addiction and drug incubation. When Phoebe is not in the lab you can typically find her outside hiking, skiing, or walking her dog, Ozzy.
