Originally hailing from rural Upstate New York, I have been exposed to many beneficial happenings since moving out to the vibrant and bustling California scene. For one, my initial love of tinkering (dating back to the early days when my father and I used to constantly experiment in the garage) was refined by my experience with robotics in league competitions. Coming a long way from mere soldering, creating lighting displays, and simple robotic chassis, this burgeoning love was then furthered by way of NAF Engineering courses taken through my high school. An amazing opportunity, NAF allowed me to vastly increase my exposure and knowledge regarding the world of engineering. In addition to having a scientifically minded side, I also love to increase my breadth of knowledge by way of literary intake. In a similar vein, I enjoy writing and have had compositions win awards of merit. As mentioned previously, I hope to attend Syracuse University and eventually have a forensics-oriented career.
Throughout my educational journey, I have strived to reach my personal pinnacle of scholastic success with a few of my crowning academic achievements resulting in the awards pictured aside. For both of the years that I chose to enter, I won awards from the PTA Reflections contest, one for a literary work (2018) and the other for photography (2021). One of my more memorable achievements, in 2018 I was awarded the President's Award for my academic abilities, a sentiment later echoed when I received a merit award for academic excellence in 2021. In the same year, I was commended for being an exemplary member of the Junior Scholarship Federation and provided the medal pictured.
From 2019 to 2020, I was honored to be a part of my school's very first Lego robotics team. This was an amazing opportunity and it provided me with an introduction into the world of engineering and problem solving. In addition, it provided me the chance to explore working in a team setting as well as an opportunity to assume a leadership role of my very own. Ultimately, the team experience allowed me to foster and concretely cultivate my love of hands-on engineering and team-based analysis which persists and motivates me to this day.
I have had the privilege of extensive volunteer work at Saffyre Sanctuary, an award-winning horse rescue and rehabilitation 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which cares exclusively for elderly and retired horses. By way of my volunteer activities at the rescue, I have been able to grow into my own as a worker and refine my practical & communicative skills. I have clocked in over 40 hours of work that includes mucking out stalls, brushing the horses, sweeping, leading the horses to the arena, and cleaning both water and feed buckets while coordinating with my fellow volunteers. This manner of hands-on experience has given me the chance to grow in terms of work ethic and collaborative abilities. This has also provided me with the very rewarding chance of helping both my greater community prosper as well as the individual horses who have more than earned their rest.
