IPL Spot Removal is a treatment where a burst of light is used to treat unwanted superficial pigment or redness in the skin. This burst of light does not contain any UVA/UVB, so this treatment does not increase a client's risk of skin cancer in the fure.Â
Clients should avoid tanning, and sunburns for 2 weeks prior to their laser spot removal treatment, and for 4 weeks after their laser spot removal treatment. This is because laser treatments create temporary photo-sensitivity in the skin, making clients more prone to sunburns and irritation.
Some patient's with darker skin tones may not be a candidate for IPL due to risk of hypopigmentation (white spots).
