Peace, Life, and Death
This painting means a lot to me. It's both a memento mori and vivere, Unrelated to the meaning though, it has deeply impacted me. It has given me hope that I have a future in art and creating. I felt hopeless with my art when I started it and through the painting process I went through stage after stage of failed ideas, in fact the paint beneath the skull is raised ever so slightly by how many changes I made to that area before I made it a skull. When I neared the end it became something I took pride in. For the first time in a long time, something I had made gave me hope for my future. This is why this piece is so dear to me.

Pomelo
