It is my mission as a classroom teacher to encourage, challenge, and inspire students by modeling life-long learning, scaffolding instruction, and challenging each student to reach his or her full potential. I strive to implement “I do, We do, You do” not only when targeting specific academic standards, but also when teaching organization and interpersonal skills. I create and implement lesson plans catered to each student's background knowledge. I ask question that require students to think as they solve problems collaboratively and independently. I mindfully model healthy relationships with other staff members. I support students as they navigate the social aspects of middle school, speaking into lunchroom and hallway conversations as appropriate. I strive to set reasonable expectations and listen well to students themselves. In doing these things among others, I hope to reach my full potential as a teacher and inspire students to learn each and every day.
